Oyugis Honey
The hills around Oyugis are home to smallholder plots growing Riuri 11 and Batian - hybrid varietals bred for resilience, now defining much of western Kenya’s coffee landscape. At harvest, ripe cherries make their way to Misadhi Coffee’s station in Rongo, passing through new local buying points set up to make things easier for farmers.
This lot was honey processed - where some fruit is left on the bean during drying, creating a sweet, layered cup with a smooth finish. Oyugis was kept separate from other neighbouring wards by Lot 20, part of a wider effort to build traceability and offer targeted support, from agronomy advice to better access to seedlings.
